First S&P close above 2,000 ever
FXStreet (San Francisco) - The US stocks rose on Tuesday as investors' digested well an strong consumer confidence number that returned to pre-recession levels. Record high for Dow and S&P.
US consumer confidence rose in August to 92.4, highest level since October 2007; home price rose 1% in June while durable goods orders jumped by 22.6% in July but excluding transportation it fell by 0.8%.
The Dow Jones advanced 29.83 points or 0.17% to finsh at 17,106.70; the S&P 500 won 2.10 pts or 0.11% to close at 2,000.02; while the Nasdaq Composite added 13.29 pts or 0.29% to 4,570.64.
