US stocks mixed during early trade, Dow rises for 7th straight session

Major US equity indices witnessed a mixed opening on Friday, with the blue-chip Dow Jones edging higher for the seventh consecutive session while technology sector underperforming the broader markets.

Tech stocks were under pressure during the early hour of trade and were being weighed down by tepid results from Nvidia. Healthcare stocks will also be in focus on Friday and might see volatile action as the US President Donald Trump is expected to give a highly anticipated speech about controlling prescription drug prices later in the day.

Easing US inflationary pressure, along with broadly lower bond yields and weaker US Dollar have been driving stocks higher over the past few trading session. It, however, remains to see if bulls are able to continue driving the market higher or preferred to take some profits off the table, especially after strong gains of over 2% so far this week.

At the time of writing this report, the Dow Jones Industrial Average was up nearly 100-points to 24,840 and the S&P 500 Index added over 6-points to 2,730. Meanwhile, tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite Index treaded water and was seen struggling to hold above 7,400 mark.
